Short course on essential components of basic Nutrition was concluded on 14 Oct 2017 at University of Southern Somalia. This nutrition course introduced students to fundamental aspects of the subject, such as essentials of a diet, food intake and control, digestion and absorption, macro nutrients, micro nutrients, dietary requirements and nutrition in health and disease.
After ending, students have been benefited and will be able to:
Explain basic aspects of study of nutrition
Outline the processes involved in digestion and absorption.
Describe the role of each of the macro nutrients and selected micro nutrients
Explain dietary reference values
Give examples of the influence of nutrition in health and disease.
